POWER PLANT: POETRY AS A THERAPEUTIC TOOL

POWER PLANT: POETRY AS A THERAPEUTIC TOOL

Apples and Snakes presents
POWER PLANT: POETRY AS A THERAPEUTIC TOOL?
With Dean Atta and Tom Vlietstra

Poetry workshops and events are often places where people disclose mental health challenges and share poems on triggering subject matter. What is the responsibility of the workshop facilitator or event host if this happens? How can we make spaces safe and inclusive for those experiencing mental health challenges? Poet Dean Atta will share his experiences and lead a conversation in which you can share yours. Tom Vlietstra will introduce ideas around narrative practice and psychodynamic theory, which relate to his clinical training, as well as the cathartic nature of poetry; how we can create meaningful change through the stories we tell.

When: Tuesday 28 March, 6.30-9pm
Where: Yellow Room, The Albany, Douglas Way, Deptford SE8 4AG
Tickets: FREE – but booking essential!
