WORDCUP2014 is a celebratory spoken word project for young people aged 13-15. Teams from 10 schools in East London coached by top professional poets, learning their craft, putting pen to paper to create their own poetry and spoken word.
The WORDCUP2014 teams come together for workshops in July 2014 to sharpen their poetic skills in time for the big WORDCUP2014 Poetry Slam Final live event on Saturday 12 July, at Stratford Circus, London. Judges include London’s Young Poet Laureate Warsan Shire.
Coinciding with the football World Cup, the project is inspired by teams coming together to celebrate a particular passion – for the World Cup it’s football, for WORDCUP it’s words!

WORDCUP2014 is part of SPOKE: Air, a wider programme of events to promote poetry and spoken word across East London.
