Our Projects

Apples and Snakes creates and supports an array of innovative projects, from spoken word shows on tour to education and arts and health programmes.

We are currently deep in preparation for our third annual Spine Festival. This festival runs between the 4th and 12th March in Libraries across London and involves a mixture of events and participatory workshops for children and young people - for more information on this project and a full list of events please take a look at the Spine Festival Website.

A recent key project within Apples and Snakes' Arts and Health strand was No Panic a partnership project working with people suffering from anxiety, panic attacks and phobia, culminating in the development of a book designed to provide practical help, written by people with personal experience of these conditions.

We also regularly commission artists to develop new spoken word performance pieces for children which we build into engaging and interactive live shows for children aged between 4 - 7 or 7 -11 called SPIN. A SPIN event is a great experince - to learn more please click on the name link above.

Some of our archived projects include Picture the Poet a national touring exhibition bringing together photographic portraits of some of the most important poets of our times, The Last Poets: Speak Up Newcomers Tour, which saw the legendary godfathers of hip-hop captivate audiences up and down the country; Shake the Dust, the biggest youth poetry slam the UK has ever seen; Architects Of Our Republic, an explosion of poetry, music and film commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington and Martin Luther King Jr.’s ‘I have a dream’ speech; SPOKE, a visionary poetry and spoken word programme in and around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. See below for information about all our current projects.

Our projects are often designed specifically for a particular community or school and the range of our work is therefore very diverse. This diversity means it is impossible to provide a clear indication of everything we can do and the impact our work can have on participants and the wider community in the few lines available to us here - indeed the only thing that you can say about all our projects and events is that they are FUN!
