A Case For The Arts
Apples and Snakes creates groundbreaking, diverse work including live performance, artist development, participation and digital content that helps to broaden people’s understanding of what spoken word is and can be.
We will facilitate cross-artform and cross-sector collaborations that push spoken word and performance poetry into new directions, and develop work online as well as internationally.
Public funding of arts and culture helps to revive local economies, and creates places where people want to live and work. They also make a powerful contribution to the nation as a whole, adding £7.7 billion to the UK economy for less than 0.1% of Government funding in England. They incubate the talent that drives the commercial creative industries, one of the fastest growing parts of the UK economy.
Apples and Snakes receives public funding from Arts Council England to deliver our important work with artists, audiences and participants across the country. Without this support, we would not be able to reach tens of thousands people every year with the transforming power of spoken word; however this funding is under serious threat.
If you would like to support us in making our case for support to government, the public and the media then please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the Culture matters page on the Arts Council’s website, which sets out the case for support for the arts from a national perspective.
