A one-day event for poets at all stages to refresh, reboot and connect. The retreat offers creative workshops, discussions, mentoring and practical advice to reenergise your practice, soothe your soul and leave you with a new spring in your step. Led by acclaimed poetry and wellbeing facilitators. Last year’s retreat sold out, and although places are free it is essential to book in advance.
The schedule for the day:
Yoga and Creative Writing 10am – 11.30am
With The Bolger Sisters
A blended session of yoga and creative writing wherein we are encouraged to unite body and mind to let language and light flow through us.
LayLumLa Voice Bath 11.50am – 12.30pm
With Dom Coyote
An alternative type of inactive meditation. Participants are encouraged to let go of negativity as you “bathe” in the soothing vibrations of vocal sound. Participants lay in near darkness allowing the voice to resonate through them.
Shared Space Poetry Reading 1.15pm – 2.10pm
With Saili Kabete
Come and be present and connect through shared experience and contemplation of proximity. Participants will gather together to silently read alongside the author. Followed by question and answer and discussion session.
Inner-Life Drawing 2.30pm – 3.30pm
With Bohdan Piasecki
Take a space at an easel and study our human subjects as they ponder questions of existence. Through observation participants will be encouraged to draw out the internal monologues of our subjects to develop works of character based creative writing.
Intention Setting 3.45pm – 4.00pm
With Rose Bird
As we draw to a close we will gather, check in with ourselves and our bodies. Preparing to re-enter the outside world we will focus on what we hope to find and what we plan to leave behind.
