FORKED needs a new host

Apples and Snakes is seeking a dynamic and experienced spoken word artist to host and promote FORKED.

FORKED is Apples and Snakes’ longest running event in the South West. It’s a much loved stand-up spoken word and cabaret night which takes place in the B-bar at the Barbican Theatre, Plymouth. FORKED is a night of high quality programmed spoken word artists, combining local talent with national acts. As well as poetry, the night includes a cabaret act to complement the poets, for example a stand-up, burlesque, drag or circus act.

Forked takes place across the year (usually 3 times). The next event is on the evening of Thursday 14 February and has a ‘LOVE’ theme. It is essential that the successful host will be enthusiastic and proactive about promoting FORKED as well as hosting on the night.

If you are a host or spoken word artist based in the Plymouth or South Devon area and are interested in this paid opportunity please email Gina Sherman:gina@applesandsnakes.org explaining why you feel you are the right person to host this popular night, together with a video or sound link to one of your performances.

Key dates: The Successful applicant will be expected to meet with Gina in January before hosting the next FORKED on Thursday  Feb 14th, they also need to be free to host on National Poetry Day which is Thursday October 3rd. There will be at least 1 more date in 2019 and more dates going into 2020.

Fee: £100 for hosting and promotion for each event
Deadline is Wednesday 16 January
