This workshop led by pioneering sound poet Tomomi Adachi explores the extended use of newspaper texts juxtaposed with voice, leading to a space where participants collectively enter a realm between poetry and music.

Participants will explore the physicality of newspapers, extending their voices and stretching what is possible in the artforms of collage and sound poetry. Some aspects are totally musical but meanings of texts are not to be abandoned. The outcome of which hopes to animate public texts from newspapers and bring them to public spaces with collective creative processes at its core.

This workshop will end with a 15 minute public performance in the Library of Birmingham’s gallery space/foyer. The workshop is conducted with English but languages for the reading/newspaper are totally free.
