A monthly spoken word night for unheard and under-represented voices in Teesside.
DiVerse features special guests and open mic performers who are womxn, LGBTQIA+, visibly and invisibly disabled, refugee and artists of colour. DiVerse alternates venues between Hope & Union in Stockton and Shanti Bistro in Saltburn.
Sai is a writer, poet and graphic designer of Bajan/Afrikan/English heritage. His first poetry collection, Ad-liberation, was published in 2013 and his novella, Kill Myself Now: The True Confessions of An Advertising Genius was published in 2008. He was long-listed for a Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowship in 2017.
Once described as ‘a soft-voiced, foul-mouthed she-dragon’, poet and artist Jane Burn’s work has appeared in various publications, including The Rialto and Under The Radar. 2018’s competition wins included the Silver Wyvern at the Poetry on the Lake festival, the PENfro Book Festival and the Bailieborough Poetry Festival.
Janet’s poetry is published online and in print. Her first pamphlet, Under-hedge Dapple (Three Drops Press in 2016) was followed by a chapbook, Dark Matter 8 (Blacklight Engine Room 2017), with Steven Bruce. Her first short story was published in the “Crossing the Tees” anthology (Sixth Element 2018).
