Poetry Retreat: Nottingham

A one-day event for poets at all stages to refresh, reboot and connect. The retreat offers creative workshops, discussions and wellness activity to re-energise your practice, soothe your soul and leave you with a new spring in your step. This event is part of the Nottingham Poetry Festival. Here’s a BBC News article on the festival (it’s looking pretty decent!)

On the day, you will be able to drop in to any of the activities, whether it’s just one of them or all of them. Pre-book your free place in advance, or arrive early to avoid disappointment.

10:00 – 11.00am: Creative Writing and Yoga

Led by Parmjit Sagoo and Revelle Sadé
By engaging the body, mind and breath we will open ourselves up to creative possibilities in order to explore the flow of language that exists within all of us. Expect to be stretched and held and healed from within.

11.20am – 12.20pm: Shared Space Poetry Reading

Led by Georgina Wilding
Come and be present and connect through shared experience and contemplation of proximity. Participants will gather together to silently read alongside the author. Followed by question and answer and discussion session.

12.40pm – 1.30pm: Lula Voice Bath

Led by Dom Coyote
An alternative type of inactive meditation. Participants are encouraged to let go of negativity as you “bathe” in the soothing vibrations of vocal sound. Participants lay in near darkness allowing the voice to resonate through them. Comfortable clothing is recommended

2.00pm– 3.20pm: Inner-Life Drawing

Led by Bohdan Piasecki
Observe and interpret as you study our human subjects. Watch them ponder and question their existence. Through active observation, participants will be encouraged to draw out the internal monologues of our subjects to develop works of character-based creative writing.

 3.40pm – 4pm
