The majority of the Apples and Snakes team have now returned to our office at The Albany in Deptford. You can reach us on 020 8465 6140 or via [email protected]. The office will be staffed from Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
Some members of the team will continue to work remotely or combine home and office hours throughout the coming months, with the majority of the team coming together on Tuesdays. Please note that The Albany remains closed to the public and any in-person meetings will require pre-arrangement.
As the future of live events remains uncertain, we are working to develop the next phase of our online programme – you can catch-up with our digital events so far via our YouTube channel. We are committed to continuing to deliver our mission of championing poets and poetry, amplifying voices, and challenging the idea of what poetry is and can be. We also continue to work nationally with partner organisations across the country to support the wider poetry sector.
Stay well and keep in touch.

COVID-19 Update: 24 March 2020
In response to COVID19, the Apples and Snakes team are now all working from home. You can reach us on [email protected].
With all public events cancelled, we are busy formulating plans for how we can continue to work online during this time to continue to deliver our mission of championing poets and poetry, amplifying voices and challenging the idea of what poetry is and can be. It will all be a bit of an experiment but now feels like a good time to see what we can do!
The artists we work with are the heart of our organisation and have been since Apples and Snakes began in 1982 – we know this is going to be a challenging time and our priority is to ensure that we can support them/you as best we can. As well as developing online programming opportunities, we want to find ways to bring people together so we can collectively support and take care of each other.
We’ll also continue to work with partner organisations across the country to support the wider poetry sector as now, more than ever, we need to take care of each other.
More to come from our online programme in the next couple of weeks, in the meantime, stay well and keep in touch.
See you on the other side!
With much love,
the Apples and Snakes team
Covid-19 Update: 17 March 2020
After the government’s new advice to avoid all non-essential social contact, we have decided that all Apples and Snakes’ public events will be cancelled or postponed until further notice.
We are sorry for the disappointment this may cause but the decision has been made with the best interests of our audiences, artists and staff in mind.
Our team will remain working, and we will be available for enquiries during working hours on 020 8465 6140 or [email protected]
We are currently working up some ideas for activity that we can share online, which we enable us to keep programming and supporting artists during this period.
We will post updates on our website and social media.
Stay well and stay in touch!
