A monthly spoken word night for unheard and under-represented voices in Teesside.

DiVerse features special guests and open mic performers who are womxn, LGBTQIA+, visibly and invisibly disabled, refugee and artists of colour.

Headline features:

Katie Metcalfe
A writer, poet, blogger and publisher from Teesside, Katie Metcalfe has published several books and has performed her poetry in the UK, Norway, Sweden, and Canada. She has recently released HEX, her debut album as a songwriter and vocalist with her band Cave Mouth.

Sarah Crutwell
A poet and spoken word performer based in the North East, Sarah’s work aims to explores areas such as mental health, sex, gender roles, ingrained sexism and a woman’s right to choose. With a background in theatre and strong intersectional feminist values, her performance is engaging, raw and progressive with a mischievous tone. Sarah recently toured of her debut collection Polyfiller, under the mentorship of Joelle Taylor.

Adele Duffield
Completing an MA in Creative Writing with Distinction at Teesside Uni in 2018, Adele’s love of scriptwriting and poetry was nurtured by her tutors and legendary local poets Bob Beagrie and Andy Willoughby. She is currently working towards an anthology of poems.

Patience Ezinwoke
A Nigerian-born poet and writer, Patience Ezinwoke was awarded the 2013 ANA Prize for Children’s Literature. Her debut full length poetry collection Drill Baby Drill is published by Ek Zuban Press and she’s currently working on a collection forthcoming this year.
