Apples and Snakes have been working with poets and schools for over 35 years to deliver workshops, performances, assemblies, residencies, projects and more…
A visit from a poet can offer many benefits. It can develop pupils’ literacy skills; confidence in performance; it can engage students with set-texts; or can introduce the class insight into something new, developing empathy and understanding.
Whether you want to celebrate National Poetry Day, World Book Day or Black History Month; explore a particular curriculum topic; fire up your class with a creative energiser; or offer them an end-of-term treat; we can find the right poet for you.
We work with all age groups and across a range of settings including PRUs, SEN schools and with both formal and informal learning groups. We will work with a poet to tailor sessions to the needs of your group.

We are currently booking poets for both face-to-face sessions (where restrictions allow), and for online performances and workshops. We can discuss any Covid-19 safety measures required and will work to make your sessions as safe as possible.
Please complete the enquiry form below in as much detail as possible, and we will be in touch within a few days to discuss your booking options. If you are interested in hiring an artist for a longer term project, such as a residency or workshop series, please state this on your form and we can get in touch to discuss any options with you.
Indicative workshop fees
- Half day: £250 (up to 2 hours total delivery time)
- Full day: £375 (up to 4 hours total delivery time)
Prices may vary for each artist, and additional fees may be required for performances, assemblies or other activity. It may also be necessary to add travel or accommodation costs. Timings can be adjusted to fit your school day, so long as the artist has some breaks between sessions, and is happy with the terms of the booking.
If you have any questions or would like to talk through your event, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note, submitting a booking enquiry form does not constitute a confirmed booking.
