Across the borough of Wandsworth, the SPINE Festival programme of free spoken word and arts activities includes workshops with Artists in Residence Safiya Kamaria Kinshasa (poet) and Helen Scully (visual artist). Children are invited to stretch their imaginations, find their voices and get creative with their ideas on Our World. Times and locations are listed on this page. SPINE Festival Launch Day: Our World – Storytime with Craft (2 March)
What inspires you about the environmental world around you? What do you wish you could change? This special storytime combines visual art with movement. There will also be a craft workshop around costume making, using scrap/recycled materials linked to the theme Our World. Suitable for ages 0-8 years.
SPINE Festival 2020: End of Festival Performance Night (14 March)
Celebrate the achievements of SPINE Festival 2020, with this special evening showcase of local children’s and teenagers’ work. Hear readings by children and teens from the collectively published zine, and enjoy performances of the songs and poems created during the festival, hosted by Balham Library’s Artists in Residence. Suitable for ages 12-16 years.
